The Big Draw in Walpole Park

Date workshop/s took place: Saturday 28th October

Numbers: 170 people

Activity plan audience and subject-line: Family Learning

It was the Big Draw 2017 on Saturday and our artist, Lynn Weddle, came up with a plan for families to collect leaves from the Park and turn them into a large collage of a skulls on the window of the Rickyard.

The skull was inspired by Soane’s Gothic tendencies and particularly his Monk’s Dining Room at Pitzhanger. Pictures of skulls in Soane’s collection and the Monk’s Parlour in Lincoln’s Inn Fields were displayed on the Rickyard walls. The skull was also a reference to Halloween and the Mexican Day of the Dead. Print outs of Day of the Dead skulls and patterns were distributed around the workshop to inspire participants.

An impressive 170 people attended the workshop, which ran from 2 – 5pm.  There were beautiful artworks created by our young and old visitors.
